• Train and equip members for efficient ground search and rescue operations in Southern Alberta,  as well as civil emergency, evidence handling and recovery.
• Liaise with other organizations to ensure effective operations.
• Educate the public about the prevention of incidents requiring ground search and rescue through the instruction of survival techniques (Backcountry Awareness, Lost in the Woods).
• Although CALSARA's main concern is to search and rescue people in distress, our organization is continually exploring ways to help the community. We have assisted at the Calgary Stampede, Global Fest, Deerfoot Classic Road Race, The Treaty Seven Winter Games and other venues. We have also coordinated similar activities with other agencies like the Missing Children Society of Canada and the Calgary Area Outdoor Council.
