The Calgary Search and Rescue Association (CALSARA) is hosting a Recruitment Information Night Thursday, February 23, 2017, starting at 7 p.m. 

The event will be held in the West Building at our base at the Multi-Agency Training Centre, located at #5705 - 23 Avenue SE, Calgary, AB

CALSARA's 2017 recruitment process will be launched at this event. We will be seeking 35 new recruits to join our team of dedicated volunteers in 2017. During the presentation at the beginning of the event you will be able to learn about our organization, committees, training programs and have the opportunity to ask questions. If you are interested in joining CALSARA, attendance at the Recruitment Information Night is mandatory, as candidates will be signing up for interviews at this event.

The interviews are scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the same location as noted above.

A search is an emergency and can happen at any time. We look for enthusiastic people who are ready to be deployed to the field at a moment’s notice, participate in ongoing training, contribute at committee meetings, support the AdventureSmart education program and engage in community engagement events.

We are looking for volunteers with the following criteria:

  • Over 18 years old

  • Dedicated to helping people and the community

  • Willing to regularly attend searches, training, committee meetings and community events

  • Able to contribute minimum of 40 hours per year, after basic training

  • Available to attend mandatory 65-hour basic training scheduled for April 2017*

  • Have a valid Standard First Aid Certificate (current within six months of expiry). Don't apply unless you will have your First Aid Certificate in time for the start of training.

  • Good physical condition

  • A collaborative team player

  • Volunteer and community oriented

  • Must pass a Police Enhanced Security Clearance

  • COMMITMENT!!!

* Payment of $300 training and uniform deposit required at first day of training
